Make yourself at home
Address: 1653 Baxter’s Harbour Road
In an emergency, please call 911

When you connect to wifi, consider activating wifi calling on your mobile phone to provide better service for phone calls. The cell service is not the greatest in the Harbour and wifi calling makes life easier.
HEATING & COOLING:
We use a heat pump for heat and cooling. You will see this in the stairwell. The remote is on the living room wall.

The wall thermostats only control the baseboard heaters. Please do not leave the baseboards on if you are not in the house.

Blinds down in the day will keep the house cool. Please keep the living room fan on at all times.
ELECTRIC FIRE PLACE:
Find the on switch on the lower right side, behind the mesh curtain. Hit the second button three times to turn on the heat and the fan. Please do not leave this on if you are not in the room.

CEILING FANS:
Ceiling fans are the best way to keep the house warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Please leave them on as much as possible - especially the fan in the living room.

SEPTIC TANK CARE:
Please remember that we are on a septic, which means nothing gets flushed except for poop, pee and toilet paper. No wipes and no feminine hygiene products, please.

WASHROOM:
Please use the fan in the bathroom as much as possible.
The shower drain will be cleaned before you check-in. If the shower is not draining, please flip the cover and check for hair that can be wiped away with a tissue.

Please check the bathroom cupboard for toiletries if you forgot something.

DRINKING WATER:
We use a UV filter so you can drink the water from the tap.
LAUNDRY:
Help yourself to the laundry facilities but please be mindful of the number of loads as we are on a septic. Laundry is only for registered guests.

Please do not use scented laundry soap.

GARBAGE/COMPOST/RECYCLING:
Please use the kitchen compost container until full. Once full, tie the bag, drop it in the green bin in the wooden storage area outside the back door. All food products, including meat, and lobster shells can go in the compost.
Recycling is separated into paper products and everything else. Once the blue bins are filled in the laundry room, please tie and toss into the wooden storage area. Garbage goes in the black garbage can in the wooden storage area.

We will move the containers and bags to the curb every other Friday morning.
Green bin - compost (in bags)
Paper/cardboard recycling - blue bags
Metal/glass/plastics - blue bags
Black garbage can - garbage

WINDOWS:
Storms will blow in with little notice. Please make sure that windows are closed if you're not in the house.
BBQ:
We will provide one tank of propane for your use. Please let us know if you run out. We try to keep an extra tank in the bunkie at all times. If you change your tank - please let us know!

THE BUNKIE:
Extra chairs are in the bunkie.
This is also where you can find lights to the bunkie patio.
Bikes and other sports gear can be easily stored here. Chair cushions are also located in this space.

EXTERIOR LIGHTS:
Light switches beside the upstairs balcony and in the hall, by the laundry room door, control the exterior lights. The bunkie lights are controlled with switches inside the bunkie.
FIRE PIT:
Before you start your fire, please visit https://novascotia.ca/burnsafe/ to check if you can safely burn. This site is updated daily, and we are "KINGS."

PARKING:
Vehicles are only permitted on the two gravel parking areas. We provide parking for three cars.
No cars on the grass, please.

LAWN CARE:
We try to mange the lawn care between guests. If this is not possible, we will let you know in advance of any lawn cutting.

STORMS:
Living on the ocean means storms can hit fast and hard. Please monitor the weather. The Atlantic hurricane season stretches from June 1 to the end of November. If we are expecting severe weather we will work with you to prepare and if power is knocked out, we will supply water.

The bottled water in the house is for emergency use. Please use tap water for drinking.

TIDES:
Please consider downloading an app to track the tides. This will keep you safe and help you plan shore excursions. We use "Tide Guide" and have it set to Scots Bay.

ENJOY:
Extra towels, bedding, kitchen staples, books, games, beach blankets are available. If you need anything or require any assistance, I am two doors down the road - 613.334.4164 - and welcome all requests for assistance.

GATHERINGS AND EXTRA GUESTS:
Additional guests are not permitted without notification. Gatherings are also not permitted at this time.
Please share any advance notice of additional needs that you have and we will do our best to accommodate you and your plans.
